But... doesn't beat taking the sump plug out.

 ......

Assuming one is fitted!  ::)  ;)  ;)  ;)  :y

Was the engine designer on the bog or something when they designed the oil sump? :-/  ;D

Worth making your own, take the sump off and put your own plug on?

If I owned it - then definately!

There are after market sumps with a sump plug fitted.

Because I spend several hours a day driving it and treat it like it's mine - that's why. I've done 10k in the car in 3 months.

I change the oil in the Omega every 3k & SWMBO's car mid way between services also.

If I was going to get it done by a dealer then I wouldnt bother TBH as the cost would be high, but as i've got a plentiful supply of good quality GM oil then surely it can only do good tor very little £.

Anyway, the point of my OP was for peoples experience of using siphon pumps rather than WHY I want to do it.

You asked a simple question, you know your not going to get a simple answer on here ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll let you know in a day or two when I've done an oil cahnge on SWMBO's Smart ..... it doesn't have a drain plug!  :-?  :-?  :-? I bought a litre one from Machine Mart.

Thanks Andy, I'll look forward to that. Do you have a part number from MM? Had a quick look & couldn't see anything obvious

Thanks Andy, its the 6L one that you have gone for? I think I put sYphon into the search thing on MM - that would explain it.

Quite a bit more ££ than the ebay ones, but one that should last methinks.

Interestingly, the Kwik Fit type places charge about £45 for an oil/filter change on our Focus TDCi, so after the first use this would have paid for itself.

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on with this.
