If you can immerse it in water and stick your finger over one of the holes and apply 30-40 psi to the other hole and look for bubbles

silly question time now, how do i put 30-40 psi through it, and yes, i do have a compressor, but not sure i have anything to fit one of the oil inlets.

also, on a side note, but relating to this car, i can't get the oil filter housing off, and also there is a sensor dangling by the n/s exhaust manifold, it looks as though it has ahd a new system up to the so was wondering if they forgot to re install it somewhere or they may have knocked it out ot something.

it's not the sensor by the oil filter housing as i can see that by the housing.

If the sensor is the oil filter side, its probably an old crank sensor which has been replaced but not removed. The oil filter is a common problem even though it has the torque setting stamped on the lid they still get over tightened. Its best to get an oil filter wrench around the filter body and a socket on the lid ;)

you need a load of various pipe fittings to connect your compressor up to one end of the cooler & a blank to blank the other end off. As though you were trying to blow it up, & stick it in a bucket of water like you did when you'd fixed your pushbike tyre innertube.  :y

Why? Unless it's now loose, you can now just replace your filter element & refit the cover. 15Nm is little more than nipped up.
There's either a hexagon head bolt or cap head bolt in the middle of the base.  :y

i don't know lol, i thought it would make it easier re-fitting the oil cooler with it off and the cooler pipes off, i'ts not loose as far as i can tell, but i'll check tomorrow, i know the cap was bloody tight.

dust blower attachment with a rag wrapped around the pipe to rough seal or tape wrapped around the pipe to fill the gap. finger on the other end will do. gentle on the trigger thou. if its knackered bubbles will soon appear ;)

12mm allen key in the centre of the housing but you'll need a new seal when you replace it ;)

If you have bent the oil cooler pipes to remove the cooler you will be swearing.

You need to remove the pipes from the block (as per the maintenance guide) and that requires removal of the oil filter housing which, as Pete describes, has a bolt inside it.

Set your compressor pressure limit to 40psi, place a dust blower on the hose and push it into one of the oil cooler openings, finger over the other end and submerse it.

Pull the trigger and watch for bubbles.
