result i think!
« on: 02 July 2010, 19:41:43 »

3 weeks ago i bought a 2001 2.2 auto.it had a gearbox problem and no history.booked the services of the darth to do cambelt, waterpump, rocker gasket, breathers etc,got laid off work shortly after so had to cancel his services and take the job on myself to save a bit of cash.bought a litre of ATF and proceeded to top up the fluid.3 litres later it was up to level then hey presto the gearbox is sweet as a nut.next was the cambelt, text the guy i got it from to say i'd sorted the gearbox and that i was gonna start the strip down at the weekend to do the cambelt etc,he then tells me that the guy he bought it off had it done at 75k (82k now).checked the cambelt kit and low and behold its all still brand new looking(genuine vx too).took all the breather pipes off and were all solid full of crap(neglect).took the cam cover off and you couldn't see the spark plugs because they were immersed in oil.using a calpol seringe i sucked out what i could then got the rest out with kitchen roll, fitted new cam cover gasket, changed the oil and filter, cleaned out all the breathers and changed the coolant. Now she's running sweet as a nut,no leaks and smooth as a babies. It just goes to show how someone like me can spend an afternoon turning a munter into a beauty thanks to all you guys and girls on this forum with your extensive knowledge and easy to follow maintenance guides,if i was in charge of the country you'd all get knighted.CHEERS
