And forums do usually count as clubs, so OOF should count (ROC does and that's just a forum, too)
We do not charge for membership, so although we are set up as a not-for-profit organisation, we don't always have access to certain discounts.

True - Adrian Flux don't seem to care, though ;) MR2ROC doesn't charge either (though we do accept donations if people are feeling nice) :) We don't have any negotiated 'special' discounts, but 'belonging' does give you some discount with them, if you see what I mean?
We don't even accept donations, for reasons that have been discussed several times before...

We do negotiate discounts, but currently only with companies that we have received good service from - WIM, JPAT, Opie etc.

We are (kind of) currently debating whether to extend this to trial companies we haven't got experience with...

Go for limited mileage if it's going to be a 2nd car.

My Westfield costs £320 odd for 7.5k limited fully comp. with Europe wide breakdown recovery. :y

Might be worth trying MSM. http://www.msminsurance.co.uk/. Not sure if he does modified cars but he's an enthusiast himself rather than a call centre droid which makes a big difference.

Yeah, it's difficult to know where a v8 will fit in everyday. Idealy it will replace my every day if it runs on LPG and does everything I want, but will it? Time will tell.

But fully agree, a second car won't need the add ons like a courtesy car etc and limited mileage will certainly help keep the cost down.

Adrian Flux provided a policy for a special requirement a couple of years ago - but I had to go to Ombudsman to get refunded because they could not send me a policy document that matched the risks they had agreed to take on (on behalf of Norwich Union). Meaning all I ever got was an Adrian Flux cover note and never a proper policy - they fobbed me off for months because the cover was difficult to set out in NU's official docs - therefore I could not be 100% sure I was covered.

Stuff the courtesy car anyway, you have enough cars to muddle through ;).
