Call me old fashioned, but I cant see how anyone in this country who isnt a farmer actually needs a 4x4. :-/

Essential workers for one.  The old dear had a LR for doing her rounds caring for pensioners and convalescing/disabled.  Not much comfort for someone bedridden and not living in a residential area that the DN can't make it because of some snow.
Fair point Bluey, but you know what I mean. The vast majority of people who drive them dont need one and havent got a clue how to make best use of one even when they do own one.
A perfect example would be the woman in a 4x4 who was in front of me for about 6 miles as I drove home from work this morning. Her speed varied between 7 and 15 mph, when even my old RWD Mig could have easily varied it between 20 and 45 mph if she hadnt been in front of it. ::) ;)

A word to the wise!!! before you go buying a big diese engined 4x4, see you live near london, this will affect you effectively it says 4x4 will not be allowed inside the m25, admittedly having ploughed through it there are exceptions but jeez what a silly idea!!!http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/2021.aspx
