Hi Guys

 MOT UNTIL JUNE 2014
 TAX NOVEMBER 2013
 147,788 MILES, FSH
BLACK LEATHER SEATS, ALLOYS WITH FAIRLY NEW TYRES
AIR CON NEEDS A RE GAS APPARENTLY

I have never owned a Volvo before, I am coming from an S Reg 1998 Vauxhall Omega CDX Estate 2.5 V6 Petrol with 103k
still use it daily, does 30mpg, but body is showing its age, rust on doors and wheel arches

the Volvo for sale has no rust

are they quiet to drive? I do like "low cabin noise"  like my Miggy :y

Found this after a quick Google Wayne, it's a well documented problem on early V70's :y

"1999 was the first year of the electronic throttle module (ETM). Volvo used a module made by Magneti Marelli (along with a Denso air mass meter) from 1999 through 2001. Some early non-turbo 2002s also used this ETM before Volvo switched to Bosch parts. These early ETMs can exhibit failure, but they are subject to an extended 10 year 200,000 mile warranty for the Canadian and US markets. Revised software seems to have eliminated the problem. The cause has been explained to me as software that detected throttle resistance as dirt accumulated (or perhaps wear as well). The fix was to eliminate the resistance limits from the software. Volvo dealers may recommend a regular cleaning. DIY'ers should be careful to use throttle body cleaner, not carburetor cleaner."

a lot of them have had the 4 wheel drive disabled and the autobox was a known weakness on them. The engines make a great noise and they are a nice place to be inside but as i said a lot have been converted to fwd and make sure the autobox does what it should.

I'll second that.

Generally, they're reasonable fun to drive, despite being wrong-wheel-drive. Handling is still way off Omega prowess, tho. You should have a word with yourself for thinking of an atuo, tho.
