Morning all, just had a call from my mate he said he has just tried the pedal trick and nothing happened the light with the car/spanner just stayed on. He said he did the following foot on brake foot on gas turned on to position 2.
Any ideas welcome. He has had the car plugged in with a auto electrian while the car was in limp mode but it showed nothing would this be because the reader is no good? He has stated that he has cleaned the  egr as well..

There will be codes stored, do the pedal test and it will display the fault codes in the odo display.

So the ECU light wont flash  ;D :y

As for cleaning the EGR, has he done a compelte strip down including drilling a hole in the top and extracting the solenoid innards?

No, the odo display, i.e. the trip and mileage display.

As for the EGR, search for the details but, you need to remove the solenoid, drill a hole in the top and then use a drift to knock the centre plunger out. This then needs cleaning until its shiney as its the plunger that sticks, and not the pintel.  :y

Can you do the pedal trick on a diesel  :question

1.9 CDTi supports the pedal test

Not on the Signum and Vectra C it doesn't

Does on the 1.8 and 3.2 petrol which is a bit random
