Mondeo V6
« on: 07 April 2011, 21:43:13 »

Just been out in a Mondeo Mk3 2.5v6 and it pulls like a bloody train. Why is it so much faster and torqueir than the omega?

That's better than mk1/2 V6 Mondeos, which drive just like a 4pot with a bit more go. They're all revs and no torque.

DOnt know if this was tuned but it absolutely flew , took a roundabout at about 5-6mph and was in third and it just pulled from nothing all through to the red line in 1 seamless powerband. Car shite but the engine is a masterpiece!

Was it an st? even if its not the fact its a lighter car then an omega might have something to do with it being quicker, omegas also tend to feel a bit slower then the actually are too.

I'd imagine being lighter would have something to do with it. I had a V6 Cavalier before the Omega and as well as being wrong wheel drive was much quicker than the Omega. (both autos)

Was it an ST?

I thought the Mk3's had a blower on them.

I recall driving one a few years ago adn was not that impressed as it lacked low down grunt  followed by a spade full then a fast drop off.

It will seem quicker for a couple of reasons, 1st it's only Cav/Vectra size where as if you want to compare a Ford with the Omega you'd have to drive a Granada/Scorpio.
2nd FWD delivers it power/torque better as they doesn't loose as much power/torque through the gearbox/propshaft as RWD does.
Still a great car though I really like them  :y
