Diesel Injectors
« on: 27 July 2011, 17:31:45 »

Thought I'd ask here as every other forum hasn't answered me for ages (I should know by now to ask here first  ;D) Anywho, I was wondering can you get diesel injectors cleaned or do you have to buy new, or even better could I clean them myself?

They can be cleaned but get a quote first so you know what you are going to pay,A mate has just has just had four tested off a 55 plate astra 1.7diesel and they charged him £175 to refurbish one of them :-?

Depends on the injector type.

Older injectors are dead easy to do and pretty cheap, you simply check the spray pattern and do a pop test. Refurb involves fitting new nozzles and setting the pop pressure (again easy with a pop tester and nozzles are cheap).

Common rail injectors are a whole different ball game though and due to the huge pressures they work at are more expensive to do.

Thankfuly the diesel injectors that Vx use are pretty dam good.

Ah the good old pop test! very very many memories of setting truck injectors with these after dismantling and cleaning them, always knew when you had a bad spray pattern cos you got covered in diesel(old type diesel that stank for days if you got it on you) pop pressure could be a bugger to get exactly right on them though!! :y
