I'm getting on nicely with the Veccy head rebuild. All the valves are now here.
So far, I have completely stripped the head of all valves, stem seals, springs, collets, follwers... basically down to a bare head. I then proceeded to clean the head thoroughly, including mating surfaces, so it now looks like a new head.
Last night, I ground in 4 valves, 2 x inlet and 2 x exhaust (so cylinder 1 is done!)
Tonight, I should get the rest of the valves lapped in, and the head finished. Then over the next couple of nights I'll prime the follwers, ready for re-fitting to the car on Weds.
I was really worried that this would be a difficult / specialist job, but in fact, it's something that any reasonably confident DIYer like me can do.
Put it this way, if you are capable of removing the head - you can strip it and rebuild it. The key is just being very methodical, and taking your time.
Question is - shall I do a HOW2, when I've finished putting this head together and test it? I have a good camera now, so I can do lots of detailed pics, and literally step by step instructions. Would anyone find it useful?
Happy to do one - but only if there's enough interest....
