« on: 18 June 2008, 10:54:57 »

ok chaps at last i have got round to starting the omega track car project
i will try and keep as many pics and details on the forum.

below is a pic of my 2003 vauxhall vectra car - it was a fully road legal copy of the 2002 vectra btcc car.
the omega will not be road legal - this will be the real deal.

Not done much so far, just stripped the inside and sorting out the wiring harnes. 2 pics below anyways

i loved the veccy but it wasn't cut out to be a track car, front wheel drive etc. but the omega IS!
ex plod with re-con 3.0lt, manual, re-con LSD and a nutcase driver.
plan on taking it track days for this year if its ready, not sure where the racing aspect will lead to. i will take it step by step for now.

I'll keep a close eye on this one.

I bought a Pre-facelift miggy off a guy on here for dedicated track use......see sig.

Im keeping mine roadlegal, but i'll be intreaged to see what you get up to without the restrictions an MOT confines you to ;)

From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.

yes, that was my trouble with the vectra, the dreaded MOT. the omega is already a mot failure as it wont make it onto the break testing rollers, its too low!!

goin to the garage tomorrow and having a look at the routing of the exhaust, i would like one muffler box per bank, and exit through the rear of the side skirts, on each side.....roll cage, wide arch body kit, internal fuel cell,2000v coiled ignition, v8 fuel pump with AEM fuel rail....there is soooo much to do!(thats naming a few bits!)

re-wired the O/S dash today, lost all the key'ed ignition, emmobolizer and all un-wanted bits (wiper stalk, indicator stalk, squib) now have a nice 'shut down' ignition rocker switch with push button start.

more pics soon people  :y
