Hi everyone,
few weeks ago i noticed some bubbling on the offside front wing of my car. I then decided to get it sorted at my trusted bodyshop and not mess about asking warranty claims from Alfa romeo. The guys took the front wing off and found out that the car has been in an accident before. I contacted the previous owner and he confirmed and he also told me that the Reg Vardy were informed about it.
Now here is the question, i bought the car with a full clear HPI Gold check report that never mentions any accidents. Where do i stand in terms of my rights? what should i do? I will be paying 450pounds for the wing to be replaced .
Any Advice is wellcome.

Well.....although its a bit naughty if the car was in an accident and the owner got it fixed out his pocket without insurance companies being involved it wont show on an HPI.

Any information as to what kind of accident or damage caused? anything through an insurance company would show on hpi.

Hi Markie,
It had a new wing and bonnet for sure, we don't know what else. I have the hpi check in front of me. I'm tempted to get a new one in case the on ei have is fake which in that case i will be very upset and take the dealer to court. I tried phoning Hpi in order to confirm authenticity.

not sure if 'minor' repairs go on hpi - this probably counts as minor as no body panels replaced, just maybe a bit of beating and spraying?

the thing though is that the previous owner told the dealer about the accident and he also told me that i can quote his name any time(he is a very respectable doctor). I don't really know the law, but were they supposed to tell me that the car had an accident?

Sounds to me as if the dealer was hoping you'd never have any reason to find out (obviously). Whether he was compelled to tell you by law about a previous repair to the car is , to say the least, doubtful.

Unless the good doctor put it in writing, he could always deny it or say he forgot.

Happy ending at last, the dealer has refunded the full amount (580quid) and i'm pretty happy about that.
it certainly restored slightly my faith to dealers.
