Manual Geabox (not suitable for the 2.5TD)
« on: 08 July 2011, 18:15:36 »

I have inadvertantly bought the wrong gearbox to replace mine with.

So, I have a Manual Gearbox for sale with slave cylinder fitted surplus to requirements...

I want £100 (which is the total of what I paid) for it, buyer to collect or arrange courier.

R25 and R28 gearboxes do, from what I've picked up on the net, share the same internal Getrag gear layout, the only differences are in the surface treatments applied to the internal components which means one is 'stronger' than the other.
The bellhousing and gearbox casing are cast as one piece, they do three different castings depending on which engine it's being mated with.
It should be possible to swap over the good internals from the box you purchased from me and put them into your diesel casing...

Yeah, I have half thought about that, but, it looks like I need a reasonable selction of specialist tools in order to swap the internals...  I will have a closer look though...

It is purely my fault...  I made an assumption that it would fit and never asked whether it would fit the TD...

I was. I didn't notice that 'Psychoca' drives a diseasel.

Why? Do you consider it my fault?

This gearbox is still for sale.  It is not suitable for the 2.5TD and I now have another fitted, so it is surplus to requirements.
