thank you every one! i have had 14 or so cars since i passed my test in late 2003, so have been on various forums. I must say so far that this is the most welcoming. i said in my first post that i dont even have an omega yet, but i have had plenty of hellos and lots of answers to my questions :) thanks all

You could always go the route of a towbar mounted cycle rack or at a push a roof rack.
