Sump thread sorted - by a drunk!
« on: 22 August 2007, 18:41:54 »

Well, went down the machine shop yesterday at 4pm, after not being able to get hold of the guy all day. Turns out he'd been in the pub all day, and was "well oiled" to say the leased when I turned up!!

I said "Hi, how did you get on with the sump?" He replied - "Not started it yet mate - but let's do it now".

He drilled, tapped, and helicoiled it in front of me, and then torqued up the plug in there.

The thread looks good as new, I'm really pleased. Helicoiling is easy, I will definately get a kit!

I've now fitted the sump on the Veccy, and all is well :y

Precendent now set, all jobs on the Omega must now be described as the relevent amount of drinking hours required prior to successful completion  ;D

For example - weekend bender required prior to oil cooler change.

Mouthful of sherry to change door check strap

I do not of course promote the use of alcohol whilst working machinery or on your omega...  ;)

Oh yes...repairs are a lot easier after a drink  :y ;D

Just had a go at a temp bodge for my LH exhaust centre section.....after a couple of tinnies  ;D

Less pain of lying on the floor under the meega and you dont swear so much when you catch you hands/arms.....coz youve had a painkiller  ;D :D

Result went well....bet it doesnt last long....but should shut the noise up for a bit  :y

BTW .....if Bob.Dent reads this......its gone in the same place as your centre section went  :-?

Even browsing here, finding out how to do some of the stuff is worthwhile after a dram or two..... ;)
