Insurance companies again
« on: 01 September 2007, 17:41:34 »

I have tried using the search option but couldnt find any threads that were actually about insurance companies

So here goes..

I'm 37, wife's 8 years younger.

I have 6 points (2xSP30) no accident claims and max NCD

Wife has no points now (SP30 just hit 3 years of age)

No claims either and also full NCD

Does £265 seem fair for 3rd Party fire and theft on my 1998 Omega 2.5 ?

It really is impossible to say. Insurance companies take a lot of this into consideration. For example, you live in Essex, thats gotta be worth a few bob extra. ;D

Is it true that people who live in Wakefield only pay 15 quid a year fully comp???

i have it from an insider that it`s because the people can´t get out of town to drive anywhere:

Yes, it's true, and, as you can tell by the pictures, we all drive foreign cars and we've disguised Wakefield to look like a foreign country ::)

and that white omega on the left of the bottom pic looks suspiciously like an old morris marina!!

by the way, what insurance company has quoted you that??

I used confused.com for my quotes and was quite surprised at the costs of my potential next year, I live in a high risk area, my car has no alarm but the standard immobiliser and a steering lock, i paid just over £1,100 TPFT last year (up to 26/09/07) on a 2000 facelift X reg 2.0GLS while having only driven 2 years, with no no claims due to an accident i was at fault for, and that included business use, now my renewal on the same car has dropped to £673 TPFT and on a 2.5V6 elite same age its only £90 dearer

I should add I pay my insurance in a lump sum, saves paying interest!

Andy, I use Vauxhall Insurance and they seem pretty good to me. You could try Martin's Money Saving Expert page on car insurance:

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance

Good luck!  :y
