There's no doubt about the outcome, James, he rear-ended you. It's the time factor I'm worried about.

Yep, there is nothing fast about insurance companies when it comes to pay outs.

Sounds like he is trying to pull you leg, when did you last talk to him, before or after you spoke to the Insurance company??

Sounds like he thinks he can get away with it by Ignoring  the Ins.Comp. only untill he is cornered will he accept liability. Perhaps you can Bluff him by telling him that you will either get the Police or you Lawyer Invoved ????

No no no. None of this will help. It's going to have to run it's course.

The car is being inspected on Friday now.. (At Bristol street ford  :-/ )

So we think that with the metal pushed in a bit behind the bumper, they'll likely call it a total loss?

Faults I can see are as follows:

1) Dent in tailgaite
2) Small crack in paint, on tailgaite.
3) Paint cracked away on bumper.
4) Bumper mounting/supporting bracket broken off
5) O/S/R Wheel arch liner damaged
6) Behind rear bumper, the metal looks "out of shape"  and "pushed back" but not badly so
7) Tailgate hard to open, and a slight panel gap at the bottom

At the MINIMUM, it's bumper, tailgate, slam panel and, if it's moved the wheel arch liner, probably more.

They can do it James, but they'll price for it.
