Not so Good Vibrations

Hi guys! I'm getting Vibration through car and steering during light braking :P , have noticed even the gear selector vibrating!! :-X When I brake hard all is well and vibration goes away . I'm thinking warped front discs but before I splash out on a new set of front disc's and pads I just wanted to see if you guys had any other suggestions , also what's the job like , how long , any tips / short cuts , ect [smiley=evil.gif]

sounds like the same vibration i have on my meega, i know one of the discs is warped but it could also be wheel balance

Wheels all balanced mate and its not speed related , thats why I thought front discs , thanks for the oppinions guys [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

I would say it is warped discs, I had the same, but mainly braking at high speeds on the motorway and the discs were not that old, Have since changed and no problems.

Hmmm, could be wishbones too. They casue vibrations under light braking.

Go find a few potholes and check how the car feels going over them.. If it bangs over them then I would suggest the wishbones.

I'm gonna also at steering idler/track rod ends to the mix as well....

Yeah, mine has a slight shudder sometimes under light braking but the brakes do not need replacing.  Also have a clunk once in a while in parking lots and the car does seem to wander now and then.  With all of that, the brakes are the last place that I am looking.  Even the rest of it really isn't a rush in my case.

The symptom of a failing wishbone bush on my car was a judder under braking which was worse if cornering at the same time - not that I would normally brake when cornering  ;)

On my P reg 2.5 CDX, it would pull violently to the left under braking, and when I let the brakes off would swing violently in the other direction. It was really dangerous, and this turned out to be a wishbone.

At the time I wasn't confident so put it in a garage, and they changed it for me. They only did the one though, but I'd suggest replacing in a pair.

I'd always change suspension components in pairs...
But we all know garages are not nearly as thorough as we are.  ;)

I thought I had brake shudder when braking from 70+ and since changing the droplink I no longer get any knocking or shudder.

Worth a look if your getting a knocking aswell.

Well, some progress.  Got the front wheels balanced and haven't detected a shake in the front on 20 mile drive home.  Can feel shake in the back now, so those are next.  Sure I still have front suspension issue but not bad enough to make me break open the wallet.
