Exhaust bolts?
« on: 13 October 2006, 17:47:29 »

Taking a peer under the bonnet this afternoon......i noticed that the bolts for the down pipes going to manifold looked a bit odd.

I noticed the exposed one ( the other 3 were hidden by the heat shield) had a slight sunken bit on top and a nut and thread on the underneath of the join. No bolt head on the top of the joint. Thinking this looked unusual and may it should have a bolt head on it i decided to take the heat shield of so I could see the other 3. 4 torx bolts.....2 came out ok.....one came out cross threaded and the other snapped half way out (presumably cross threaded as well)....cheers vx dealer for that one! Anyway got the shield off and the other 3 bolts were the same, slight sunken bit on the top but no bolt head.

I assume this must be correct as I carnt believe the 4 bolts heads have sheared off??

Do i assume correct?

Cheers

If you mean the bolts from the cat to the manifold they bolt in from underneath so you will see 4x bolts without heads, possibly sunken if they have used short bolts mine come out of the hole a fair way since fitting longer bolts.

Yes its the oval type joint from the manifold, pipes then run to the cat.
