No Idle! Aargh!
« on: 17 November 2006, 21:28:28 »

Greeting guys, just got the heater bypass valve replaced in my car. It's true, not too difficult a job just fiddly. But alas, I fear I may have done something to upset the engine.

It does'nt idle, it did perfectly before, but now nothing. what could I have done? Or what should I check for?

Plus, for some reason there is now a really loud tapping sound coming from the top of the engine.

Cam?

Hopefully.

As long as it will last a short time, as I am planning to do a timing belt, water pump, tensioners, and get the 3.0 cams fitted. Hopefully in the next couple of months.

I need to get a new locking wheel nut key, the irmscher one has siezed on a punctured wheel and now will not remove. (suspect tyre fitting garage + air gun)

Just to let you know, the pipe running into the heater matrix was leaking also, so that has been taken care of as well.

I have some pics, but cannot get them uploaded, I can send them to you if you wish.

One last thing, when I had the plenum chamber off, I noticed the 6 inlet chambers were a bit oily, not exceedinly bad but noticeable. Was thinking a dose of redex? Or have I nothing to worry about?

Hope you guys can be there for me again.

P.S.  What sort of money do you thing a good condition Manual reflection can get? 92k on clock, good body and will have a years mot on it?

Assuming you remembered to plug in ICV, are there any codes stored?

yup, I am certain the ICV has been re-installed, but I will re-check.
I have seen this paperclip test  but am unsure of what to do and what I am looking for?

I am only average  with a spanner and am S#it scared of dealing with anything electronic.

Sorry to be so vague, but this is the first car I have really wanted and can actually afford to run (hopefully). Therefore the only car I want to fix and keep.

I am sure you know what I mean.
