As the Boy says if the pipe splits on the Pump side of the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid you will only hear the noise for the first minute approx after starting up. However if pipe splits on the exhaust side of Solenoid, which mine did, the noise will be ther all the time.

By the way it is normally the one from the pump that goes First unless disturbed :y

Unless the 1 way valve fails (not uncommon)....
