98 mini facelift interior into a 2003 facelift???
« on: 01 February 2007, 00:13:53 »

Hi - I need some urgent help on this one pleeeeeeeeze.  Have the chance of a 1998 leather Elite interior for my 2003 cloth 2.2CD, will it fit???  Seats don't seem a problem, same airbags etc, but will the door cards, interior lock pulls, and handles swap ok?  The 98 doorcards look slimmer at the top, the lock pulls are more flush in the card than the sticky-up grey rectangular ones on the top edge aka the 02-on Vectra on my 03 facelift, and the door handles themselves appear in a slightly different place.  Also concerned about the flush of the front cards against the fascia edges, but the missing tweeters from the front cards don't unduly concern me.  Seller assures me all handles/lock pulls are included, and all the headrests are there so I'd really like to fit it in. All help greatly appreciated - I just wanna make my CD an even more comfortable ride!! :y

I don't have a lot of experience in this area. I would think the seats would fit, but I'd have serious doubts about the doorcards.

Personally, I would avoid doing this, because believe it or not, you could seriously de value the car.

If a potential buyer in the future saw pre facelift seats in a facelift car, they'd think it'd been messed about with, and walk away.

Personally, I'd hang on for a set of facelift leather if you want it.

Thanks for that James; I appreciate your comments, but I've got my heart set on this interior and it's sooooo cheap I'd be a fool not to have a go if it WILL fit in.  The car's a working vehicle and will probably be pretty much devalued once I'm finished with her anyway, so the devaluing side of things doesn't really concern me, just the fit of the stuff.  If anyone ele has any more experience of the fitment I'd be glad to hear from them.  Nice CDX by the way, bet she goes like the clappers  ;)

That pics not my CDX, it's the project 2.0 LPG. Currenly running on about 2.3 cylinders, it's averaging about 10 BHP and a 0-60 of 1 week ;D

Gut feeling is...

Seats will probably fit... but doorcards will be problematic if not impossible.

Whilst nothing is impossible, the doorcards will be a problem.  Remember your facelift has all window switches etc on the door, whereas prefacelifts have them by centre console.  Tweeter arrangement different as well...

Too messy - don't bother

Get facelift interior parts, too many electrical differences

You woul also need pre facelift arm rest thingy in middle and move the loud speakers in the doors.

It would make the car look very odd

facelift seats are quite a bit different to mini-facelift.

The leather seats on my dads 2.2 CD are different to pre-facelift.

Try and find a facelift leather interior, however the cloth in facelift is great. I don't see any real advantage in my dads facelift that has leather, it burns you in the summer and is cold in the winter.

As for door cards, forget it... its not impossible. But all the electrics are in the wrong place, windows, mirrors, rear window lock ect... Plus pre-facelift door cards in a facelift won't look very nice.
