Speed of rocker cover leak
« on: 31 January 2007, 11:37:21 »

About 3 weeks ago, my plug chambers were FULL of oil. I managed to wick the oil out and clean them all up. The cause of this is indicated as rocker cover gasket. I need to wait another 2 weeks before i have the funds to do this. I have checked the plugs a couple of times each week and they are still clear of any oil and oil level is fine.

Could there be another cause for the oil in the chambers or is it just a very small slow leak that was missed by previous owner? I expected the chambers to refill with oil fairly quickly considering they were full to the brim.

Any ideas?

Have you cleaned the breather assembly?

If so then the leak is likely to reduce a lot....

Breathers not cleaned. I couldnt get the breather box off. Got as far as the cover and the torx screw and the rear 4 pipes but wasnt sure how the 2 front pipes disconnected and didnt want to force it.  :P

Take the throttle body off the front of the plenum too. It'll need cleaning anyway and will make it easier to get those two front pipes out.
