TC, REV counter fault.

Do any of you know if the TC and REV counter are conected in any way. Niether work and they both packed up at the same time. ABS is still ok. The paper clip test shows nothing. I've had the TC switch tested and thats ok. :'(

Yes, they are related, but to the ABS. The traction control and rev counter both get there data from the ABS sensors. Maybe a faulty wheel sensor or something if the ABS is working ok.

There is but one common point for the two and that is the instrument panel and connector

The rev counter does NOT get its info from the TC/ABS module, this comes from the engine ECU....

Is it simply the TC light not illuminating on the dash?

I would sudgest popping the instrument panel out (see maintenance guide section for details), clean the connector well and re-fit.....test it before re-fitting all the heater vents etc....

No the TC light is on all the time and the TC does not work.I have checked the instrument panel connections too. :-[

OK....that sudgests that the RPM signal is not getting out of the ECU.....hence the TC (Tc retards timing and drops RPMs so monitors this) fault light and no rev counter.

Next step would be to pop the ECU out and inspect the ECU connector and pins

I've just checked the ECU. The connector plug seems fine, spotlessly clean. Reconnected, no change. I did notice though when turning on the ignition, the rev needle twitched very slightly, momentarily.
Any ideas what to do next ?
