Horrible engine noise gone.... BAD James!
« on: 13 September 2007, 11:56:34 »

I've been trying to suss out a nasty clonking noise at the front of the engine this morning. At first suspected aux belt tensioner and pulley, so changed them. Noise was still there.

Popped the aux belt off briefly and ran the engine - noise was gone. So def aux belt related. I span all the pulleys, seemed fine. Re-fitted aux belt, started car - noise back!

It was only then I noticed one of the 10mm water pump bolts wasn't quite home  :-[

I must have forgotton to torque them back up when I did the cambelt  :-X  ::)
.
Ah well, he who never made a mistake, never made anything....

It's as quiet as a kitten now  ;D
