Can rear shocks be replaced on the ground?

If I park carefully so that I can get under the car, can I reach everything to replace the rear air shocks with the car on the ground?  I don't have a trolley jack to line things back up.  OTOH, since it looks like I am getting Bilsteins is there too much pressure in them to line them up with the suspension compressed?

Yes, you don't need to jack up the car.

Cheers, I think that will be better all 'round considering my very limited access to tools/equipment.

I think you'll struggle for access though, it's a job made far easier without the wheel in the way.

Easy to do with wheels on and the car on the ground...there is only one bolt to remove under the rear anyway....the rest is in the boot.

Are you fitting self leveling shocks back in, if not then the fuse to the self leveling pump needs to be pulled (easy !)

The lines are connected via a quick release connector with a metal spring on it so easy to remove...

Fitting on these shocks is easy as they are gas filled and hence always fully extended....for removal the hardest bit will be getting the bottom bolt out and levering the shock from the hub.....and thats not hard!

Ordered 4 Bilstein OE's, hopefully here by next weekend.  Yeah, I'll have to look for the fuse.  Was thinking of trying to cover up the lines just in case.

Yeah, the rears are looking pretty easy.  Fronts are gonna be another story, hopefully I won't get caught out on tools.

TIS says to fasten at bottom, use an air line to inflate up through the mounting into the boot then fasten, pointless! Just fasten the bottom attach the air pipe turn on the ignition etc,  What you say Mark?  Also, on the bottom wishbone mounting there is a washer / spacer, some are more concave than others and often odd on many Omega's, WHY?  Anyone?
