Head Gasket - knackered before fitting?
« on: 25 March 2007, 10:34:32 »

last night I inspected my V6 gasket kit....and put the head gaskets side by side.

There is a soft red seal that goes all around the edge of the gasket... but...

On one gasket, it runs true all along the top long straight of the gasket... however on the other gasket, it stats a few mm from the edge of the gasket at one end... and finishes up right by the edge of the gasket when it reaches the other end.. the line is not straight..

What does this red seal do on the HG...just an airtight seal? (If so, I might get away with it) and is this likely to cause me an issue?
