Busy day today
« on: 15 September 2007, 23:53:56 »

I have been busy today I have done an oil change changed the air and pollen filters fitted the new bushes to the front door stays and greased it up but main and worse job was cleaning the breathers and throttle bodies . Those two torx on the bottom of the throttle housing are not easy to get at to say the least  :-? when I managed to get it off the left hand side of the two ports was much dirtier than the other is that normal  :question The black plastic part that the hoses go on to was pretty well blocked on the two smaller lines and the larger ones were clearer but still full of gunge. Two cans of carb cleaner and a 100psi airline and various poking implements and all is as clear as I can get  :y How often should these be checked and cleaned . I did have a heart stopping moment when I treid to start it up it would not keep running and was a bit rough to say the least . Some silly bottom had forgotten to refit the pipe on the right hand side off the big tube feeding the throttle intake reconnected and ran ok after . Quick polish and clean up looking not bad if I say so myself the red really looks good when the sun is on it  8-)

Job well done :y

On the MV6, the breathers are one of those jobs I do every summer, though to be honest, since I've been using Vauxhall oil, they don't seem to take much cleaning.  But for the sake of £2.79 for a can or carb cleaner, worth doing still :y

I used all genuine parts for the work I carried out yesterday  :y One thing I did notice was the difference in the depth of a genuine air filter and a halfords one the gen one is almost twice as deep I am not sure what how much difference that would make to the car if any

£5.28 + VAT, worth getting the 2 clips as well, as sometimes they break.  I think I have a filter and clips here if you want to do it this weekend...
