Power steering fluid spurt from resevoir
« on: 18 April 2007, 21:34:11 »

:question Noticed "oil" drip today. On inspection it was tinged red. Opened bonnet and when the steering is turned full lock a spray of fluid jets out from the steering resevoir cap (there seems to be some sort of pressure relief hole in the actual cap). I`ve had the motor since December and this is the first time it`s happened. Fluid level is OK. Any ideas on this one chaps.

Checked fluid level fortnight back. All ok. Silly question, but would the fluid volume increase due to hot weather leading to a temporary displacement of fluid?

It probably does expand as it gets hotter (it is the same as ATF and on the older autoboxes where you could check the level, you had to do it hot ;)), but I do not know the specifice for the 'meega power steering.

Been driving two Omegas over 8 years through hot weathers, never experienced anything like that... sorry, but it does not sound normal to me... maybe someone else can advise what might cause this.
