V6 Exhaust question
« on: 24 April 2007, 22:04:40 »

Cotton wool, lost of black strands in my backbox, restricting flow.

Question, do I just need to replace the backbox, or could this be coming from the mid sections?

Omegas sound quite good without the backbox - you could try reving with the backbox off and see what happens.....

Highly unlikley to be coming from the mid section sounds like the baffles have corroded in the back box and the wadding has escaped

that's if you can get the back box off without dmanging the middle sections: two pipes into the back box means you can't twist the back box off.

You're both right.

It's a bugger to get the back box off if you're not doing the centre boxes. I had to cut mine off with an angle grinder and open the pipe like a banana.

Couldn't find the angle grinder.. so I dropped the exhaust and hacksawed the thing off

Even with a blunt saw - it was like a hot knife in butter!!

Just need to get a backbox now!
