Hi to all and thanks for the welcome. Hope I can get some good advice re my 2.5 TD.
I have had the Omega now for around 8 months and so far very pleased with it. Well I say so far it's in for it's MOT today so fingers crossed there.
Was wondering if I can improve the performance with one of these plug & play tuning devices or have it re-mapped. I am not  very technically minded just want some advice from other TD owners whether it's worth it or should I leave well alone. Will it do any long term damage to the engine? I suppose it depends which device and what I actually have done really.
Also a minor niggle, since I had a replacement exhaust, middle and rear sections I have had this annoying vibration coming from somewhere underneath. I only get the vibration when the engine is idling it's goes under normal driving conditions. I have had another new exhaust on after being told it was the centre section box that was faulty.  Everything was ok for around a week then the vibration started again. Beginning to think it maybe the Cat that's faulty. I've had all the engine/gearbox mountings checked and of course the exhaust system itself (3 times) but nothing found wrong. It's going in again today (service/MOT) so will get them to check everything again.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions from other TD owners.

If you have an auto though, expect a chip to rip the box to shreds at some point...

Had the vibration on mine and it turned out to be the exhaust whre it goes over the strengthening bar at eh rear of the car simply unbolting the cat bolts and twisting the exhaust away from ithe bar cured it !!!

It's been up on the ramp at the exhaust fitting place more times than I can remember looking for this problem, they even had me take a look and it looked to clear that bar. Anyway it's in for the service and MOT now will see how it performs when I get it back. Any comments on rechipping, the reason I ask it does seem  sluggish until the turbo kicks in.

course it seems slow till the turbo kicks in, its a low comprtession diesel til the turbo whacks the compression up!!! no amount of chipping will help with that problem !! ALTHOUGH, you can bring the boost in lower down the rev range!!

Well what a suprise it passed the MOT no problems, just an advisory that the rear brake shoes needed adjusting which has been done, and front pads need replacing soon. That's it great news , happy with that [smiley=thumbsup.gif]. Only trouble is it's still got that annoying vibration which they say is an exhaust problem again but nothing seems to be rubbing anywhere [smiley=huh.gif].  Ah well at least it's runs well.

The so called experts say it's the exhaust vibrating but as yet can't tell me where. It's a new exhaust and it's been in several times to be adjusted but no different. I tow a caravan and mines fine when pulling that.....Have you had the engine/ gearbox mountings checked on yours?

Well I thought being a nice day I would get those car ramps out of the garage and get under the Omega to see if I could sought out this annoying vibration. So before I got it onto the ramps I would just have a poke around underneath first. After only 2 minutes found the cause, it was the rubber sleeve that connects the mounting pin on the centre section box to the pin on the underside of the floorpan (It sort of hangs off the pin on the rubber sleeve) Anyway slide it off, it was loose anyway and bingo the vibration stopped.
Now bear in mind this has been back into the exhaust fitting place twice to be checked over after they fitted me a new back and centre section. It's also been into an independant Vauxhall dealer to check this out, but they had a look and told me they couldn't find anything loose or vibrating. I then on the dealers advice took it back to the exhaust fitters for them to fit a new exhaust as the dealer said it could be an internal vibration on the centre section box.
I had the exhaust replaced again (credit to them) but still had this vibration which came back a few days later.
I took the car  into the dealer for a service and MOT 2 weeks ago and said to them please sort out the vibration on the exhaust. It still came out from the dealer with the vibration, but car running really well otherwise.

Now why couldn't all these so called experts find this problem with all the equipment they have, but I found it in just 2 minutes laying on my back on the drive [smiley=grin.gif] [smiley=wink.gif]
