Blowing exhaust?
« on: 27 May 2007, 15:18:34 »

Recently noticed a kind of wet fart noise on acceleration from underneath the car. Had a quick look but nowt obvious from exhaust connections. Had similar on my huh-hummmmmmmm sierra 4x4....turned out to be pinholes in downpipes. Whats the price of exhaust components for an Elite? Tried the stall test by covering tailpipe. Engine drops revs a bit but dont stall. Gotta be blowing somewhere i guess. Any help appreciated......ta  ;D

Most likely place for exhaust blows are the joints. Check those first.

Prices for exhaust parts are £250 ish for a genuine GM system from the cats back on Trade Club.

I won't recommend anything else other than a custom s/s system (which will cost more).

Hi Baz - now I'm no expert but I have a probelm which sounds exactly like a blowing exhaust but it's 2 small rubber pipes that have split at the front of the engine. See my post 'exploding rubber pipes'. If it's not obviously the exhaust itself, try checking those out.

Probably not, but thought it might be worth a mench.
