Vectra V6
« on: 19 June 2007, 20:25:22 »

A guy at work who has a 1999 2.5 Vectra asked me if at 3000rpm i get a flat spot, then after that it surges?? he has had several garages telling him different things, also he gets a miss....I said "no to the flatspot, but maybe Cam Cover Gaskets may need replacing, which has caused the oil to go down into the spark plug wells, which could cause the miss... but i will see if i can find out whats the problem..

Have I told the bloke right lads?? :)

This was a very common problem with the V6 Vectra that was never really sorted out, The Plenum design is completely different (I once saw someone who had grafted on an Omega Plenum but he had to make modifications to the bonnet to be able to shut it!)

Courtney Turbo (I think the chaps name there was John) struggled with a solution as well. the only thing that does help is the 'three pipe mod' of which details can be found on the vectra sport forum. Basically involves modifying the VIM pipes to allow a more direct flow of air.

i would say it's worth looking for obvious problems as well (such as those listed above) especially if the problem didn't seem to exist before.

fitting a higer pressure fuel reg goes some way to ironing out the issue, but still doesnt completly get rid of it.

The FWD V6 never seemed as smooth as the Omega no matter what was tried

The Omega has a better multiram and tuned inlet section (more space) hence its much flatter on torque delivery...

If you are looking for information on Vectra tuning then have a look at the following site
http://www.vvoc.com/

It has a wealth of knowledge on tuning the vectra and plenty of How2's
