Oh, hold up, I recon I might have sussed it! ;)

See where the red arrow is, well the bolts that hold that thing on are the right size, and a few mil longer that the cam cover bolt, and has pulled up nicely. :)
The still in tact cam cover bolt is shorter, but no to shot, will still pull up well in the other things mounting.

And whilst I on about that thing me red arrow points to, what is it?
Also the pipe coming off it, the blue arrow, is realy slack where the connection to the block is, should it have play in it??

8nm is nothing... you really need to measure the torque on this job...

If I had one I would mate, its best guess here! I just hope its tight enough cause I dont want to to having to take it all out again.

Just phones a few mates and no one I know has a torque. :(

What is also important is not just that the torque is correct, but that it is the same on all bolt so that the cover press down on the gasket equally all around.

This job defo needs a torque wrench, but at the risk for being stoned by other forum members  would say put the socket on a screwdriver-type handle with 1/4" drive (i.e. straight down, no 90degrees handles or ratchets), and then finger-tight it rotating the handle - this will make it easier to have all bolts tightened equally.
