Cam covers
« on: 12 July 2007, 18:18:54 »

First off, I think I have done really well to get this far. 8 cam cover bolt removed (driver side) cover will not budge. How much force can be applied and in which direction?

Due to (hopefully small amounts) sealent, and being on there for a while, they do have a tendency to stick.

Without damaging, I always try to prise up a corner...

Not worth rushing, so take your time.  First time I ever did it, it probably took me around 4hrs....  ....still takes me a couple. As said, don't rush :)

You do not need any special tools except torx and a torque wrench (Which goes down low - the cam cover bolts are only 8Nm).

Parts, you need the gaskets, the o rings, and the black sealent.  Possibly may need the 6 big o rings under plenum as well is they have gone hard...

re the torque wrench: when we mean low we mean low ( ie a 8nm upwards wrench)  :y
