still limits at 4500rpm
« on: 21 July 2007, 19:50:09 »

hi all.

in my recent post i said i had problems with limiting at 4500 rpm i was advised to change cam sensor and do breathers. just cleaned breathers and changed cam sensor other week. i reset ecu after changing sensor and no difference code showing is 0340 which "the boy" said was cam sensor. could the sensor be faulty??? the breathers were disgusting!!!! full of oil and stuff. car accellerates better but still limits at 4500rpm could it all be related to exhaust manifold needing doing!

please help!

A fault code indicates a problem with the sensor, conenctor or wiring so do check the connector and wiring as well.

checked to see whether the wiring has been caught anywhere and it hasn't if i wanted to check the connector how would i do that? i did try tracing where the wire went but it just seemed to join a bundle and go straight to th ecu!

I'm not for one minute saying that this is the cause of your problems, but when my crank sensor was unplugged on my 2.0, it limited at 4.5k.

Given the code though, I'd imagine a problem with the cam sensor, or wiring.

Using a wiring diagram, you could continuity test the wires from the cam sensor, back to the relevent ECU connector pins. This way you're testing it through the loom.

Check for breaks in the circuit, or shorts to 0v.
