What weight?

I have a 2000 year plate facelift estate, 2.5TD.
Can anyone tell me what the kerb weight should be. I was under the impression it is somewhere around the 1750kg mark, but have read elswhere it could be lower around 1560kg. Thanks for any replies.

"kerb weight" is no longer a "recognised" phrase ... the vehicle now has maximum permitted weights as laid down on the VIN plate ... can't find an on-line vauxhall piccy .. but this ford one whould do :



4 maximum allowable weights ...

top one : maximum permitted mass - max weight of vehicle (in this case 2235 kgs)
second one : maximum permitted train weight - max of vehicle + trailer (in this case 4235 kgs ... note if you subtract 1 from 2 ... 4325-2235=2090 .. this gives you the maximum permitted trailer weight useful for caravanners to know)
third one : maximum permitted front axle weight (in this case 1050 kgs)
fourth one : maximum permitted rerar axle weight (in this case 1230 kgs)

This link does give some specifications including a "kerb weight"  of 1733 / 1713 depending on auto/manual

"kerb weight" used to include driver and 3/4 tank fuel if memory serves me ...

Looking in Owners manual:

Permissible Gross Vehicle Weight for a X25DT manual is 2255kg, Auto is 2265

Kerb Weight Manual : GLS=1629,CD=1671, CDX=1691, Elite=1705

                       Auto: GLS=1649, CD=1691, CDX=1711, Elite=1725.

your VIN sticker should tell you - black sticker on B post, drivers side....

your VIN sticker should tell you - black sticker on B post, drivers side....

The VIN sticker, that seems to tell you what the maximum loadings are front and rear, I think.  Anyway have found my handbook now and after a second look have found what I have been after, the kerb weight is 1749kg +/-  any additions that have been added to the car. Reason for asking, I bought the car for towing my caravan which weighs in at a MTLP 1460kg, which according to figures should be within the recommended 85% weight of the car. Some quotes I've seem for this model say 1560kg which is far too low for my caravan.

That's a 1:1 ratio...  agreed, legal,  NOT recommended though....  I have towed 1:1 before with a Ford, braking greatly affected..
