2.0 Running problems
« on: 01 September 2007, 18:48:23 »

Hello,

I have some questions about my 2.0 16 Valve Omega.

When idling, she seems to idle smoothly, however, if you try to rev gently, she will splutter and hold back. Holding the throttle at say 3000 RPM results in quite a rough, spluttery run.

No fault codes are coming up.

I am thinking either the Cam Sensor or Lambda Sensor are at fault, what does everyone else think?

I think a sensor problem would log a fault code.

I'd suspect a fuel flow problem (blocked filter, dodgy fuel pump) or a blocked exhaust.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

The car is under going some repairs at the moment, last weekend I completed a Diff swap out, a very heavy job!! and also changed the manifold, the manifold I put on was also cracked, but not as badly, I have a feeling that the downpipe may not have gone on correctly, it is held on by one bolt and a lot of fire gum (bolts had sheared and needed drilling out, things started to go wrong from here!!), so it could be partially blocked, though the exhaust has a good amount of gas coming out, fuel filter was recently replaced.

I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a new manifold and genuine GM front pipe. (anyone have any nearly new items off a car they're breaking?).

Before I swapped the manifold out, the engine was idling fine, but having the same issue when being revved, so not sure on this one.

Another of my thoughts :). Leads are fairly recent (replaced by previous owner) DIS pack, shall scour ebay for a usable second hand example and try that, I got given the car for free, so spending a bit to get it working is not going to bother me overly :).

Hi James, long time no see  :)

Have you tried unplugging the air flow meter? see if it runs better?

Hello,

I haven't as yet, I'll try this tomorrow. Out of interest, I thought the airflow metre pretty much controlled fuelling, and was a major component, without which, the car would not run at all, I will try this though to see what happens.
