Air Temp Sensor

On a late-ish 3.2 facelift  where is the incoming air temp sensor? It's not in the pipe from the airbox to the bagpipes as per the earlier cars and I can't see it anywhere on the intake before the airbox.

Maybe it has been incorporated into the MAF sensor...?

Had a (very) quick look around wiring diagrams, cant see it on there....

I'm confused though, there must surely be one otherwise how would the ECU know the incoming air temp?
Also, you can display the incoming air temp on a Sykes Pickavant diag tool (so presumably a TECH 2 as well).

I haven't a 3.2 I can test the tech2 out on....

I'll have to call in one day!

The reason why i'm interested is that while extinguishing the emisions lamp for the second time and trying to diagnose the fault it was noticed that the incoming air temp seemed a bit high.

Its not realy required, air mass actualy takes into account temp any way (as the mass changes with temp any way).

The air temp sensor on the 2.5 and 3.0 plays very little part in the ecu calcs.

Note also, the air temp can get very high with the bonnet shut....

Right, thanks for the info Mark.

So that's possibly an issue that needs to be crossed off the list. my thoughts now are that maybe the cabling on the Lambda sensors is breaking down with the heat?

Need to get the car up and have a good look underneath I think, I can see the sensors before the cats but where are the ones after?
