There should be an idle adjust mixture screw on the evaporator.......I suspect, if its anything like the one on the estate, that the evaporator is full of gunk!

Is it OK to tweak that screw, (if I note it's original position?)

I've removed it and flushed it out entirely... a tiny amount of gunk, that's all...

James on the back of the evaporator, there should be 2 screw or nuts, large one sets the gas when runing the smaller one sets the gas for tickover, mixer type systems are just lke a large carburettor and require tweaking every now and then,
try screwing the smaller one in about half a turn and see if it will tickover, but please make any adjustments small , too many people just dive in and make huge changes and wnder why it wont run properly, its actually very sensitive!!!!
t just takes a few seconds to sort itself out, also not to sure but i think later systems made do with just one adjuster and were not so easy to set up!!

There seems to be an adjuster screw on the evaporator.. I'll post up a pic.... however there are also what look like some adjusters on the Y peice that splits the gas off into the two inlets...

The Black leather in this car is near on mint, as are the door cards. It would slot into your M reg too (providing it's a saloon).

If I do break the car, and you want it, I'll even fit it for you.

Yep, it's already off.

Martin, you're only 30 mins away, how about I pop up and we'll take it apart together?
