Oh and Autovaux used to hire out the locking kit for £15 a week as well. Don't know if they still do, but you will need to leave a deposit.

Sorry mate didn't see your post, it says on the autvaux site they still hire it, I'll ring them tomorrow.

Any trouble with the pattern kit? I've had it up to my eyeballs with cheapo pattern parts on previous cars!

If they're from a reputable manufacturer like Gates, pattern cam belt kits are fine, IMHO. In fact, unlike the latest VX ones, they have markings on the belts, which is always nice :y

Righto I got the timing belt kit, auxillary belt, (GM)water pump plus seal and bolts, power steering pulley bolts and fitting kit loan for one week. All for 170 bucks inc VAT delivery Thursday, from Autovaux.

I'll give this a try on Saturday. I'll set it up in the garage in the warm and dry, even if it does mean waking the Scimitar up  :o

Have fun  :y

Kevin

P.S. There was a spate of autovaux aux belts that were a little too short earlier in the year. Might just be worth being wary of then when you're refitting it and if it seems too tight, send it back. If one of the short belts is fitted it runs too tight and knackers the tensioner pulley bearing.

Problem solved!!! (I think) Thanks you lot for being so bloody helpful, and convincing me to do it (with the help of superDad)

Took most of the day but the new belt and pulleys are on, new coolant pump in, the auxillary belt, er...
Well, let's just say it was a bit on the tight side! So put the old one back on, Ill get a genuine one on Monday. Oh, and I like the coolant surprise when you persuade the pump off, my trainers needed a wash anyway.

The sreech seems to have gone, and it sure runs smoother. Still smokey from the left side though, how much driving after changing the cam cover gaskets does it take for this to go away? I've literally done about 2 miles.

All thats left now then is a new exhaust. And some Waxoil.

Oh and some rust spots to touch up.

Plus a power amp.

Ooh and a phone kit etc etc  :y
