My fault was intermittent when it initially happened and then I couldn't start the car because I had flooded it and run the battery down. As I explained earlier I cleaned breathers and throttle body, changed rocker cover gasket and o rings and changed the spark plugs. She has been fine since  :y
I would get it code read as the eml has stayed on and this will tell us exactly what the problem is.
Post the fault codes on here when you have them.

I started the car this evening and the problem had gone, but eml still on. Turned it off and started again and problem was back again. Does this sound like this fault you are taking about? How do i get rid of it if it is this cylider 2 problem, is it a new coil pack, or someone has mentioned a crank sensor?

Have you checked yet for oil/water in the plug wells?

Does sound a bit like cam sensor problems though.

You need to get codes read before considering next step...

The codes were reading misfire in cylinder 1 and 3, so took the plugs out and they weren't in good condition. They looked like they had burnt oil etc on them. Replaced the rocker cover gasket and fitted new plugs and all seems fine now, eml light gone off too! Many thanks

Did you clean the breathers at the same time?  If not the cam cover seal will likely go again shortly..
