Warning Light with the spanner?
« on: 16 November 2007, 11:55:37 »

Thank you all for my question regarding the stereo and mobile phone... next one..  ;)

On the dash is a spanner light which indicates emmissions I think - I have also read that the autos hang on the gear in order to get the mixture right in the exhaust chambers... I have now had the car for almost two weeks and the light has come on and stayed on twice... this normally rectifies itself when switched off and restarted - when the spanner light comes on the engine goes into safe mode (very similiar to being in the ice/snow mode on the box)....

My question is - is this something that can be easily fixed at the dealership.. or indeed myself? the engine and box seem tip top and run very smoothly, but I can see this being one of those annoying things that Id like to sort out...... the car has done just over 90k with fsh..... is a filter, fuse or someting easy that can be fixed... ?

Many thanks  :y

On a facelift (yours) , this is Engine Management Light (EML), and needs the codes read by a reader, its unhappy about something. (Its also the immobiliser light, if it flashes when cranking, the immobiliser isnt happy)
Emissions light is the picture of engine symbol  :y
