Sorry but another heating problem
« on: 19 November 2007, 19:01:06 »

Hi Guys, must be the time of year for heating problems.....Right...i have had my mega since Feb and the heating has always been crap, luke warm at best, i had to replace the head gasket during the summer and since its all been back together the heating has been really cold, from 1 to Hi theres no change even with engine at full temp, ive done a coolant flush and today i took off the HBV, i read on another thread that if you put a hose in alternate pipes this should clear any crap in the heater matrix, i tried this with the 2 pipes on the left of the HBV firstly with the bottom one and water came out of the rad drain plug i tried it in the top pipe and nothing, i tried blowing in the top pipe and nothing...A bit long winded i know but if i blow in either one of the 2 pipes on the left of the HBV should it come out of the other pipe ? TIA  :y

If the two pipes are the feed and return from the heater matrix, they run back through the firewall, then the matrix does seem to be blocked. If have just had a long session on my 2.5 trying to fix the heat output, a hose on the lower pipe stub results in water coming out of the upper.

My problem was almost certainly airlock, for some reason this 2.5 has to be filled via the flexible pipe removed from the top heater stub.
None of my others were this difficult.

Hi Mike, i have tried blowing through all three pipes that attach to the HBV, the only one that i cant blow through is the one on the top left hand side i dont think its an air lock as ive blown really hard and tried to have water running thru but nothing...
