Now what

Well after several hours the team at Newent changed the crankshaft sensor, drive back to Gloucester was great really smooth, stopped at Shops, after 10 minutes came out and guess what eml light on again.

Readings are 10335 again but this time also get 10351, also will not rev over 4000 beyond that sounds like a Gatling gun :'(  It seems ok when its cold but as soon as it is hot it starts to mess about.

So now what folks?

Has the cam sensor been considered, I know this can sometimes cause this kind of fault, eg rev limiting?

Was the crank sensor fitted a new, GM item?

The 351 code is a misfire on cylinder 1

I take it all the ring gear is intact?

Hi James  yes gen GM item, ring gear not sure what you mean, this is proving a pain, cam sensor not been mentioned so far

I can't recall from memory what the crank sensor "talks to" on the flywheel - I was just wondering if something was amiss with the flywheel, causing the crank sensor to see unexpected values, and therefore log an error for that sensor, even though the sensor itself is ok...

I only mentioned cam sensor as I've known these to rev limit GM engines when they fail, not sure if it's the case with yours though..

Is the coilpack ok?

I think coil pack is ok, problem only seems to occur once the engine is hot, until then all seems well, have been suggested that it could be earth fault

Did anyone at newent look at the live data? any indication from that?

no the only code was done by paper clip, and that was 335 hence changing the crankshaft sensor, second fault only occurred on way home

Still stuck on this got someone else to count the codes for me still come up with 10 3 5 1 and 10 3 3 5 as before but also a strange one of 10 41 10 which I cant tie in with the codes.

Misfires at 4,500 revs, so suspect di pack, going to try and find one tomorrow, see if that sorts it. :'(

Bob, check for oil around the plugs etc as I noticed fresh oil at the rear of the engine

0351 relates to the ignition 1 and 4 coil.

On this ECu setup, missfires can not be detected and hence we need to focus on the primary side so a resistance check of the coil may yield some info.

The code relates to a basic electrical test of the wiringa dn coil on this primary so examine wires for damage, breakage et aroudn that area

Thanks for all the info, slowly working round it all, today ran quite fast, nice high temp and not a falter, got home switched off and there is the eml on again, very strange
