air circulation
« on: 03 December 2007, 11:00:07 »

Hy,

Can someone help me how to disassemble the vent system as the internal air circulation got stucked and in winter period I can only travel with aircon on or with open window. I changed the pollen filter it is new and I am sure that it is stucked as I tested it with traveling behind a smokey track. With no air circulation I still could not smell any smoke inside.

Thanks in advance

Not too sure of what you are asking.  There is an exit vent in the rear offside of the car (saloon) which allows stale air to get out and to allow the doors to close easily without creating excess pressure inside.

If it is to remove the entire internal air pipework via the heater & blower, no idea.  At first thought, seems like an entire dashboard out job...... :-/

Anyone else any ideas??

I think he's saying that the re-circ is permanently on, and that the only way
he can get fresh air into the car is to open a window?

Never delved into this. If someone has and give him some pointers, and/or
some pictures of where to action the fix, then this is probably what he's after.

If anyone can give some pointers on the recirc valve solenoid or the recirc
vac unit, don't forget the poster is from Hungary, so the car will probably be
left hand drive. This may affect where the components are located.

Grumpy - Looks like your diagnosis is closer than mine.     :y

Anyone any first hand knowledge of this or who regularly breaks these cars who can give pointers??

Cheers Guys!

Sorry for my english, I meant that somehow my air recirculation stuck. I can switch it on and off at the dashboard but no fresh air coming in. When I switch it off or on I can hear the servo struggling but most probably it does not open as I can not smell the smoke from outside if I am following a smokey truck. The main problem with this is that after a 10-15 min drive windows start to get wet and I can see nothing so I either switch on the aircon or open the window... I would like to ask if someone can help me to lockate this servo, as it seems pretty hard to remove the whole dashboard especially if I do not know what I am looking for...

Thanks again,

Hi mbraz. I have not had reason to to work on this system as yet. But from what I
have picked up if you have the Electronic Climate Control  System, then the first
thing to try is a reset.
To do this, I believe, you press the 'Auto' and 'Off' buttons, at the same time, for
several seconds with the ignition turned on.

You must check the vac pipes and electrical cables at the Recirculation Air Valve
Solenoid. On left hand drive cars you must remove the lower trim panel on the
drivers side of the fascia panel for access. You will then find it on the left hand side
of the Air Distribution Unit.

You must also check the Recirculation Air Vacuum Unit. This is mounted on the left
hand side of the Blower Motor. On our right hand drive cars, to access this you would
remove the glove box. I don't know what you would remove on Left Hand drive cars.

You really need someone who has done these jobs to advise you further. So if anyone
on here has, then now is the time for them to add their thoughts.

Sorry I can't be of any further help.

First step with any such problems is to carefuly inspect all the vac hoses in the engine bay......make sure they are connected correctly and are not damaged.

Thanks for the quick answeres. I already tried to reset it, but it did not help. Can you explain what vacum pipes do you mean in the engine bay?

Thanks
