gear lever flopping around

hi
newbie
i have a 1996 2.5 estate hit a large lum of concrete  the road and had to be towed home auto gearstick now just flapping around
new gearbox 6 months ago so dont really want to scrap any ideas

untill you get underneath and have a look one can only guess but here goes,there is a rod which connects the box to the gear lever held on with clips which has possibly been clobbered.
