MV6 Supspension

want to fit new springs and dampers on my 1999 MV6 saloon. Don't want to lower it anymore than it is as it is lower than my old 2.5 CDX. Can someone please tell me which make would suit this car best, Eibach, Koni, Bilstein. Want really good quality and retain the same ride height, if it does have to be lowered then i only want it to be slight. Was also thinking about new anti-roll bar kit from Eibach. Can anyone give me some advice on this??

Standard handling/height for the MV6 is not to bad, IMHO, but each to their own.

I have 30 mm lowered rears (Irmscher) with standard fronts.  Shocks are new Boge.....  Handles well, no great discomfort, looks better as the rear is a tad lower, cost was cheap as I waited for the right time on E-bay....

Really depends what you are looking for....   ;)

I don't use the car for everyday uebe goes out every couple of weeks and next year going to spend some money on it ie new suspension and want to get it resprayed and fit all of my hi-fi gear that i have as it has sat in my loft for nearly 3 years. Because it does not get used much i want it to be a to spend a bit more on the suspension. Also want to change all the bushes while it is apart. Aready changed all the ball joints ect on the front. Weill also need to get a new allow as one of mine is egg shaped so may change the alloys and go up to 18's or 19's.

I've heard good things about Bilstein dampers on the Omega, haven't got them myself but I had them (along with Eibach springs) on an Impreza WRX STi I used to own and the handling on that was excellent. If it were me uprating the suspension on my MV6 I'd probably combine the Bilsteins with Irmscher springs. Two things to consider though -- Bilsteins are bloody expensive (around £400-450 for the 4 dampers) and the Irmscher springs are about 20mm lower than standard MV6.

I'm not aware of any uprated springs that don't lower the car I'm afraid.

BTW If you're going for handling over looks, avoid 19" alloys. The increase in unsprung weight will give the springs and dampers more work, losing some of the benefit of uprating them. I'd be inclined to stick with 17s, but 18s probably won't be too detrimental. Alternatively try to get forged wheels, which are lighter, but usually a fair bit more expensive.

Thanks for that, does anyone know if the MV6 are lower because they certinly look alot lower thn other meegers?

Yes, the MV6 is lowered. 30mm I believe.

I have just been quoted for rear shocks on my MV6 from Vauxhall, they told me that the standard ones are £150 +VAT each and uprated are £193+VAT each.
Bilsteins work out cheaper and proabably tons better.
Does this sound right though?

The pre-facelift MV6 uses different springs to the standard - Wrong, they are the same, the lowering is done within the shock absorbers.

So.....fitting the likes of a bilstein OEM shock (about 200 quid a set for OEM ones) to an MV6 will raise it back up again......Irmscher springs are 30mm drop and hence that then returns the ride height to standard MV6.

my car has police spec springs (bought from VX) which are supposed to be stiffer than standard but they are still way way to soft when pushing the car in the twistys. I ran bilstien's and ebiach springs on my other car and and was extremely impressed!

My Facelift Elite estate has Bilstein suspension all round, not sure if it lowered. It came that way. Compared to my previous saloon Elite its completely different. Grips the road like poo on a pussy cat. The ride is quite a lot more harsh (compared to my saloon) . Didn't like it at first but have now grown used to it.  It still surprises me and others on the twisty stuff..

Not sure when the suspension was changed because the self levelling is still there, just not plugged in. the compressor used to run when the ignition was turned on but I've now disabled that as it's not connected to anything.

Right this is getting confusing for me now. My MV6 saloon is a 1999 mini-facelift. I do want to keep the ride height the same which does look 30mm lower than a standard one but i do want better handling hence getting uprated supsension. My rear shocks are fooked and the fronts are getting a bit bouncy. So i thought replace all the shocks and springs while it is all off, also want to do all the bushes at same time. Ifi put irmscher springs on the car and bilstein  aftermarket shocks, will i still retain the same ride height?? Sorry in advance for sounding stupid, just confused thats all!!!
