Rev limiting at 4500
« on: 21 December 2007, 21:15:56 »

Which sensors reporting incorrect positions/situations can cause the 'limp home mode', and to narrow it down further, are there any of them that would cause the emissions light to come on and/or the eml?
Switching off and restarting cleared the problem.

Cam and crank sensors will cause rev limiting at 4512rmp (according to TIS). I'm not familiar with the emissions lamp on 2.2, but at least at 2.0 these sensors cause EML when they're really knackered. I find it more likely that the EML lights up than the emmisions lamp if it's one of those sensors.
When my cam sensor got tired the EML disappeared when the engine was cold and occationally when restarted. After a while it died completely.
Your symptoms is probably an early warning that it will die completely quite soon.

Sounds like the typical cam sensor problem on a 2.2.

Make sure it is replaced with a gen. Vx. cam sensor.

does sound like cam sensor failure, common on 2.2

If you connect a code reader, see it it has a P0340
