Air bag light - typical
« on: 30 December 2007, 08:57:50 »

2 weeks away from an MOT and the air bag light comes on.

History - Always had problems with the drivers door sensor.

Replaced by dealer under warranty.

November 2006 - TheBoy checked it out, cleaned all the door contacts.
Light came back on when I got home.

Bought a new sensor - light came back on within 2 weeks.

Cleaned up the contacts in the drivers side kick panel.

Been OK until now.

 :(

Re-check those connectors again.....seem to remember there being a field remedy in TIS for it.

Er......no.

Field remedy 1245......replace connector to airbag in seat with crimps.

I'm getting code 16, I think what your refering to brings up different codes.

It does but.....I always carry out the tech bulletins related to the system as a matter of course if the system throws a wobbly.

Its possibly also worth considering the same on the connector in the drivers foot well.

AFAIK a lit airbag warning light is not a reason for MOT failure. I had one a couple of years ago which passed.

However, I can't find anything official on the net to support this and I am not an MOT tester.

Can anyone here say with certainty?

Thanks, Jim

I can seen that doc, but the implication is its only with the seat pyrotechnics are playing up (common on Vectras BTW).

AA - can you reset it and see how long it takes to return?

I reset it (code 16) the day before yesterday, didn't come on yesterday.

It's definatley not an mot failure.I had the same trouble witht the Omega I sold a few weeks a go.That was also the drivers seat airbag sensor.I was told to check the connections but was never brave enough to do so  :-/

SRS is not MOT failure as far as I can work out.

Thinking about M_DTMs comments about the bulletin - although it appears unrelated, may be worth doing, as we've all seen these ECUs through false codes when other problems are detected.  I would have thought you'd also have the seat high resistance one though. But for the sake of ellimination.....
